Short-term memory

There are a number of strategies that could help Jane with her memory problems;

  • Establish and keep to routines
  • Written information – such as diaries, prompt notes
  • Other aids – such as using text messaging, using alarm clocks, identify specific places to keep certain items
  • Giving Jane time
  • Minimising distractions and breaking tasks down into smaller components which are easier to remember
  • Referring Jane to a specialist psychologist or occupational therapist for a more detailed assessment of her problems
