Common types of cognitive problems

Stroke can affect a person’s cognitive ability/functioning in a number of ways. They may experience any one or a combination of problems in the following processes:

  • Attention/concentration
  • Memory
  • (Reduced) ability to process information as quickly as before
  • Planning
  • Problem-solving
  • Perception
