Common indicators for recovery

Indicators for a good recovery after the initial few weeks following a stroke include:

  • Continence
  • Young age
  • Mildness of the stroke
  • Rapid improvement
  • Lack of perceptual and cognitive problems

  • Pre-stroke disability
  • Urinary/faecal incontinence
  • Poor swallowing ability
  • Dysphasia
  • Cognitive problems
