If patients survive the early phase of stroke, many of its effects will lessen over the next weeks and months and sometimes even years. However, the rate and degree of recovery is difficult to predict.
To respond to individual’s enquiries about the future in general terms, but to advise the individual to speak to their specialist for specific advice. Contact with the patient is not just a specific treatment intervention. Listening, supporting and observing changes in the patient are equally important for all staff.
