This activity looks at the knowledge and skills required to enable health and social care staff to be aware of  bladder and bowel issues following stroke and be able to manage it.

Learning Points:

  • Explain the factors which may cause an individual to have bladder and bowel issues following stroke
  • Describe how bladder and bowel issues following stroke may affect an individual’s well-being
  • Outline methods which may be used to identify bladder and bowel  problems following stroke
  • Identify strategies to assist a person to recover or manage their bladder and/or bowel function following stroke.
