Consultation about Bert’s results

After calculating Bert’s score, Bert is high risk. The consultation demonstrates a health behaviour change (HBC) approach to address cardiovascular risk misconceptions.

  • N: Bert, now that we have looked at your Assign score and the result is 79, what are your feelings about that?
  • B: Well I’m worried. Does that mean I’m going to have a heart attack or stroke?
  • N: No Bert, it doesn’t necessarily mean you will have a heart attack or a stroke.
  • B: But 79 is a high score, is it not?
  • N: Yes, you’re right. Anything 20 or above is considered a high score.
  • B: Well, what does that mean for me?
  • N: You have a high risk but it can be changed
  • B: But I didn’t think it could be changed?
  • N: Yes, you can lower your risk score by changing a few things.
  • B: Oh…what could I change?
  • N: Let’s look at your management plan Bert.
  • B: Ok.
