Hamish goes for his coronary angiogram

Hamish is referred for an urgent coronary angiogram to assess the anatomy of his coronary arteries. (you may wish to review the coronary artery anatomy within module 1).

The nurse explains this procedure to Hamish and Flora and gives him a booklet: British Heart Foundation: Coronary Angioplasty

A coronary angiogram is performed via a right radial artery approach, the images reveal Hamish has narrowings in all 3 of his coronary arteries.

Interactive pictures of right and left coronary arteries showing the narrowing.

Pulse point

Not all the hospitals use the radial approach, an alternative route is a femoral approach for coronary angiography.
