“I was brought into hospital this morning and I have been told I have had a stroke. The nurses have noticed that I’m dribbling when I drink and it seems to be going down the wrong way because I am coughing and spluttering. They say I am going to have an assessment by a speech and language therapist who will help me to swallow more safely.”
