Case Study: Margaret part 1

 

You hear a shout for help from the day room. You enter the room and see Margaret on the floor.

  1. You should shout for help and approach Margaret as she may need emergency aid. Check if responsive/conscious level (shake and shout).Do not lose time consulting her notes.
  2. Then you should check her airway immediately. Do not go and get help as you need to immediately check and ensure that Margaret has a clear airway and is breathing.
  3. Now check that Margaret is breathing. Look listen & feel for 10 seconds.  Do not go and get help at this stage either as you must immediately check that she is breathing.
