Quiz 2

Mrs Singh keeps bumping into things and has lost confidence in her abilities. You need to explain why she is experiencing these problems. Which one of the following four options would you chose to correctly describe right sided hemianopia to Mrs Singh:

Correct answer –

She has lost the right side of her visual field in both eyes and as a result is unable to see objects on her right side. You have correctly described hemianopia.

Wrong answers-

The stroke has resulted in her being aware of the right side of her body which is why she is bumping into objects. You are describing visual inattention/neglect.

Her eye muscles are not working in a coordinated way and as a result she is seeing two images of a single object rather than one. You are describing double vision.

The stroke has caused blindness in her right eye. There is no damage or blindness in the eye itself.
