4. Communication difficulties

Continence may be affected by the following communication difficulties
Receptive Aphasia   a person may not have the ability to understand meaning when asked if they need the toilet
Expressive Aphasia a person may have difficulty expressing their need to go to toilet and be understood
Dysarthria Others may find it difficult to understand what a person who has physical difficulties speaking is saying
Visual disturbances a person who has double vision or a hemianopia will find it difficult to use equipment
