Irene's story:

Irene is outside having a cigarette. What advice would you give her to reduce her risk of stroke?

Irene

Irene’s story

I’m Bob’s wife Irene. I’m 52. Because Bob is away for long spells, I keep myself busy walking the dog and going to the gym 3 times a week. Excuse me while I pop outside for a quick cigarette.

  1. Irene needs to stop smoking – she can get help from smoking cessation services, nicotine replacement therapy and other support
  2. She also needs an annual blood pressure and health check
  3. Maintain exercise levels
  4. Work together with Bob to support each other
